Artist collaboration on sense of place

Karen Wicks Artist Statement

My work is about a response to the transient marks we make as we inhabit our surroundings and I am particularly interested in the footprint left in places that become derelict and forgotten. Collaboration is central to my practice as response to the unknown often provides an exciting dynamic and direction. Process is an important part of my work and I like to explore mark-making through less ‘traditional’ methods – drawing with thread into concrete, exploring after-print and accidental marks, casting from surfaces and drawing over them. My work is often left to be found by others.
